Coin, nummus AE4
A copper alloy nummus of Emperor Constantine I, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 306-337. The back of the coin depicts a Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was minted in Ticinum (modern day Pavia, Italy), AD 318-319.
Obv: Cuirassed and helmeted bust of Constantine I, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CONSTANTINVS MAX AVG. Rev: Two Victories, standing face to face, holding a shield inscribed VOT / PR above an altar. Rev inscription: VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP, ST in exergue.
