Coin copy, dupondius
A copper alloy contemporary copy of a dupondius of Emperor Claudius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 41-54. The back of the coin depicts Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture and fertility. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 41-44.
Obv: Bare head of Claudius, facing left. Obv inscription: [TI CLAVD]IVS CAESAR AVG PM TR P [IMP] PP. Rev: Ceres, enthroned left, holding corn-ears in her right hand and a torch in her left. Rev inscription: CERES [AVGVSTA], SC in exergue.
