Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Severus Alexander, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 222-235. The back of the coin depicts Sol, the Roman sun god. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 230.
Obv: Laureate bust of Severus Alexander, facing right, left shoulder draped. Obv inscription: IMP SEV ALEXANDER AVG. Rev: Sol, standing front, head left, raising his right hand and holding a whip in the left. Rev inscription: PM TR P VIIII COS III PP, SC in field.
