Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 161-180. The back of the coin depicts Victory, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 170-171.
Obv: Laureate bust of Marcus Aurelius, facing right,left shoulder draped. Obv inscription: [M ANTONINVS AVG TR P XXV]. Rev: Victory, naked to waist, standing front, head right, her left hand is resting on a round shield, mounted on a palm-tree, inscribed VIC / GER. Rev inscription: [IMP VI] COS [III], SC in field.
