Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Antoninus Pius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 138-161. The back of the coin depicts Italia, the female personification of Italy. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 143-144.
Obv: Laureate head of Antoninus Pius, facing right. Obv inscription: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP. Rev: Italia, seated left on a globe, holding a cornucopia in her right hand and a near vertical sceptre in the left. Rev inscription: TR POT COS III, SC in field, ITALIA in exergue.
