Social History — 1981
Badge
Badge inscribed with the slogan 'Keep Fares Fair / Can't pay won't pay'. This was part of the campaign against the Law Lords' ruling in December 1981 that the GLC's 'Fares Fair' policy was illegal. 'Fares Fair' was a policy of heavily subsidising transport fares in London by means of a special levy. The policy was abandoned following Bromley Council's successful court action against the GLC in December 1981.
