Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Trajan, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 98-117. The back of the coin depicts Providentia, the female personification of foreseeing. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 116-117.
Obv: Draped and laureate bust of Trajan, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAES NER TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER DAC PARTHICO TR P COS VI PP. Rev: Providentia, standing left, leaning on a column, pointing with her right hand towards a globe on the ground and holding a vertical sceptre in the left. Rev inscription: PROVIDENTIA AVGVSTI SPQR, SC in field.
