Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius of Titus as Caesar (Crown Prince). Titus was given the title of Caesar on the ascension of his father, Emperor Vespasian, to the imperial throne, AD 69-79. Titus ruled as emperor of the Roman Empire, AD 79-81. The back of the coin depicts Felicitas, the female personification of prosperity. This coin was minted in Lugdunum (modern day Lyon, France), AD 77-78.
Obv: Laureate head of Titus, facing right. Obv inscription: [T CAES IMP AVG F P]ON TR P CO[S VI CENSOR]. Rev: Worn. Rev inscription: Illegible.
