Coin, as
A copper alloy as coin struck by Emperor Caligula, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 37-41, to commemorate his deceased father, Germanicus. The back of the coin depicts Vesta, the Roman goddess of home and family. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 37-38.
Obv: Bare head of Germanicus, facing left. Obv inscription: [C CAESAR] AVG GERMAN]ICVS P[ON M TR POT]. Rev: Vesta, seated left, holding a patera (dish) in her right hand and a transverse sceptre in the left. Rev inscription: [VESTA], SC in field.
