Coin
A copper alloy provincial Roman coin (Greek denomination) of Emperor Valerian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 253-260. The back of the coin depicts Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt, virginity, child-birth and wild animals. This coin was minted in Ephesus (near Modern day Selçuk, Turkey), AD 253-260.
Obv: Draped and radiate bust of Valerian, facing right. Obv inscription: AVT K nОМKBAAEPIANOC. Rev: Artemis seizing a fallen stag by the horns. Rev inscription: EOECION T NEOKO, PON in exergue.
