Pacification of Ireland
This silver medal carries the conjoined busts of William and Mary, with a lion and lioness on the reverse symbolically representing the King and Queen. The medal was struck in Holland in 1691 to mark Wiiliam's pacification of Ireland. It followed William's victory over the Catholic King James at the Battle of the Boyne in Ireland, which resulted in James fleeing back to France and secured Ireland for the English crown.
