Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Philip I, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 244-249. The back of the coin depicts Roma, the female personification of Rome. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 248.
Obv: Draped, cuirassed and laureate bust of Philip I, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP M IVL PHILIPPVS AVG. Rev: An octastyle temple with a statue of Roma situated in the centre of the columns. Rev inscription: SAECVLVM NOVVM, SC in exergue.
