A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Gordian III, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 238-244. The back of the coin depicts the emperor. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 240.
Obv: Draped, cuirassed and laureate bust of Gordian III, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG. Rev: Gordian III, seated left on a curule chair, holding a globe in his right hand and a sceptre in the left. Rev inscription: PM TR P III COS PP, SC in exergue.
