A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Gordian III, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 238-244. The back of the coin depicts Fides, the Roman goddess of trust. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 238-239.
Obv: Draped, cuirassed and laureate bust of Gordian III, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG. Rev: Fides, standing front, head left, holding a vertical military standard in her right hand and a transverse spear in the left. Rev inscription: FIDES MILITVM, SC in field.
