Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Maximus. Maximus was appointed Caesar (Crown Prince) by his father, Emperor Maximinus Thrax, in AD 236. The back of the coin depicts pontifical implements. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 236-238.
Obv: Draped, bare-headed bust of Maximus, facing right. Obv inscription: MAXIMVS CAES GERM. Rev: Sacrificial and priestly objects. Rev inscription: PIETAS AVG, SC in exergue.
