A copper alloy as coin of Emperor Severus Alexander, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 222-235. The back of the coin depicts Securitas, the Roman goddess of security and stability. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 223.
Obv: Draped and laureate bust of Severus Alexander, facing right. Obv inscription: [IMP CAES M] AVR SEV ALEXAN[DER AVG]. Rev: Securitas, seated left, by a lighted altar, holding a sceptre in her right hand and resting her head on her left hand. Rev inscription: [PONTIF] MAX TR P [II COS PP], [SC] in field.
