Decorative arts — 1825-1835
Vase
The painted panel on this vase depicts Lower Regent Street, looking south towards Carlton House. As the residence of the Prince Regent, Carlton House, with its screen of columns, marked the triumphant southern extremity of John Nash's prestigious new thoroughfare. The appearance of Lower Regent Street was transformed in 1827 when Carlton House was demolished.
The style of this vase has been influenced by Parisian porcelains especially those made at the Sevres factory.
