Coin, aureus
A gold aureus coin of Emperor Severus Alexander, the Roman Emperor from 222-235AD. On the front of the coin the cuirassed, laureate bust of Severus Alexander faces right, his shoulder is draped. The inscription reads: IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG. On the reverse, Mars (the Roman god of war) standing left, holding a an olive branch and reversed spear. The inscription reads: MARTI PACIFERO. This coin was minted in Rome. It was struck 222-228AD.
