Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Lucilla; daughter of the Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius, AD 161-180, and wife to her father’s co-emperor, Lucius Verus, AD 164-169. The back of the coin depicts Hilaritas, the female personification of rejoicing. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 164-169.
Obv: Draped, bare-head of Lucilla, facing right. Obv inscription: LVCILLAE AVG ANTONINI AVG F. Rev: Hilaritas, standing front, head left, holding a palm in her right hand and a cornucopia in the left. Rev inscription: HILAR[ITAS], SC in field
