Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Antoninus Pius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 138-161. The back of the coin depicts Salus, the female personification of health. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 155-156.
Obv: Laureate head of Antoninus Pius, facing right. Obv inscription: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP IMP II. Rev: Salus, seated left, feeding a serpent coiled round an altar from a patera (dish) held in her right hand. Rev inscription: [TR POT XIX] COS IIII.
