Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Antoninus Pius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 138-161. The back of the coin depicts Securitas, the Roman goddess of security and stability. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 156-157.
Obv: Laureate head of Antoninus Pius, facing right. Obv inscription: ANTONINVS AVG [PIVS PP] IMP II. Rev: Securitas, seated left, holding a sceptre in her right hand and resting her left arm on the chair arm. Rev inscription: TR POT XX COS IIII. Part of a hoard from Muswell Hill, Haringey, 1928.
