Haringey
Haringey borough is located in the north of London, divided by the major road Green Lanes. Muswell Hill and Crouch End lie to its west, with Tottenham to the east.
In the middle is Wood Green, which was largely rural until a railway station was built there in 1859. Now it’s a metropolis with a large shopping area.
One of Haringey’s most famous landmarks is Alexandra Palace. Since it opened in 1862, “Ally Pally” has been an exhibition space, army barracks, POW camp, BBC TV studio and the site of two serious fires. Today it’s a busy entertainment venue.
The borough is also home to Tottenham Hotspur football club. The team played for over 100 years at White Hart Lane before moving to their new stadium nearby in 2019.
