Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Lucius Aelius Caesar, the adopted son and intended heir of Emperor Hadrian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 117-138. Aelius was never to become emperor, dying shortly before Hadrian in AD 138. The back of the coin depicts Concordia, the Roman goddess of understanding and marital harmony. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 137.
Obv: Draped, bare-headed bust of Sabina, facing right. Obv inscription: L AELIUS CAESAR. Rev: Concordia, enthroned left, holding a patera (dish) in her extended right hand and resting her left arm on a cornucopia. Rev inscription: TR POT COS II, CONCORD in exergue.
