Watch, chatelaine
Gold enamelled repeating watch and chatelaine in original case. The watch may be Swiss. It is set with half pearls on the band and bezel. The back is decorated with dark and pale blue and white enamel and set with a central circle of diamonds and larger lozenges set with half pearls. The back is decorated above and below in white palm fronds and a basket of flowers. The bell is inscribed ‘CHENEVIERE’.
The watch has a triple chain chatelaine en suite with two plaques ornamented with strings of pearls inserted into open borders. The larger one supports the watch key, an un-engraved seal and two ornamental tassels.
A similar watch was exhibited in ‘Jewellery Through the Ages’ at the Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore in 1979, no.605.
