A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Trajan, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 98-117. The back of the coin depicts Salus, the female personification of health. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 104-111.
Obv: Laureate bust of Trajan, facing right, left shoulder draped. Obv inscription: IMP CAES NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC [PM TR P COS V] PP. Rev: Salus, enthroned left, feeding a serpent coiled round an altar from a patera (dish) held in her right hand. Rev inscription: SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI, SC in exergue.
