Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Trajan, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 98-117. The back of the coin depicts Trajan’s deceased father, the senator, Marcus Ulpius Traianus. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 112-115.
Obv: Laureate bust of Trajan, facing right, left shoulder draped. Obv inscription: IMP TRAIANVS AVG GER DAC PM TR P COS VI PP. Rev: Trajan’s father, bare-headed and togate, seated left on a curule chair, holding a patera (dish) in his extended right hand and a sceptre in the left, his feet are resting on a stool. Rev inscription: DIVVS PATER TRAIAN.
