Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Trajan, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 98-117. The back of the coin depicts a Dacian, an inhabitant of an ancient region of Central Europe conquered by Trajan in the early second century. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 107-111.
Obv: Laureate bust of Trajan, facing right, left shoulder draped. Obv inscription: IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC PM TR P. Rev: A Dacian, standing left, with his hands bound in front of him, shields and arms are piled behind. Rev inscription: COS V PP SPQR OPTIMO PRINC, DAC CAP in exergue.
