Fire mark
Fire marks were placed on the outside of buildings to indicate that the property was insured by a specific company. This fire mark was issued by the Yorkshire Fire and Life Insurance Company founded in York in 1824. In 1880 the company opened an office at 82 Broad Street in the City of London. The mark features the Company's emblem, York Minster.
