Coin, aureus
A gold aureus coin of Emperor Vespasian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 69-79. The back of the coin depicts Fortuna, the female personification of fortune. This coin was minted in Lugdunum (modern day Lyon, France), AD 71.
Obv: Laureate head of Vespasian, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG TR P. Rev: Fortuna, standing left, holding a globe in her right hand and a winged caduceus (a staff held by messengers and heralds) in the left. Rev inscription: COS III FORT RED.
