Container, cotton reel container
Egg-shaped hollow wood container, which pulls apart. Hand painted on exterior with design of flowers. The purpose of this case is unknown; were it a silk holder, it would have a hole to enable the thread to be pulled out and slightly flattened ends within the case to hold a reel straight inside. It is possible that it is a darning egg although then there would be little point in its hollow compartment.
