Flower
Anna Pavlova gave these carnations from her dressing table to her friend Miss Ruby Ginner on June 12 1913, after dancing 'Autumn Bacchanale' at the Palace Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. Miss Ginner - who had been watching the performance from the wings - dried them and donated them to the museum. She herself was a dancer, and pioneered the teaching and performance of Interpretive Greek Dancing in Britain. An annual prize in the technique is still held every year in her name.
