Working History — 1820-1870
Handscrew block
This hardwood handscrew block forms part of a group of tools contained in a fine early 19th century toolchest. Many of the tools are marked W Gray. The block has no owner's name and was possibly not part of the original compliment of tools in the chest. Handscrews are made up two hardwood blocks and two wooden screws. They are used for holding work together when being glued or during assembly.
