Earring
Pair of earrings, part of a parure including a necklace and a pair of armlets. The gold pendant plaques are enamelled en camaieu with classical heads in profile. Each plaque is bordered with pearls and suspended by three gold chains from a gold bow.
This set is a very rare survival from the French Empire period, since such fragile dress accessories rarely remain intact. The tubular filigree links uniting the plaques and bows of woven gold wire resemble those in a design published by Mésangère in around 1805.
