Electric fire
During the 1920s gas was the heating fuel for most homes. Electric heaters were slow to catch on and were often promoted as office equipment as well as for domestic use. This 600-watt 'pedestal bowl' heater was designed to be used on a lighting circuit and was cheap for a heater at 21 shillings (£43 in 2005). It was part of the Magnet range made by the British firm, General Electric Company.
