Blunderbuss
The maker of this flintlock blunderbuss, Samuel Pritchett, had a workshop on Chamber Street near the Tower of London. He was a contractor to the Board of Ordnance between 1793 and 1801. He then supplied arms to the East India Company from 1805 until his death in 1821. He also served as Master of the Gunmakers' Company in 1800 and 1812.
This blunderbuss bears the heart-shaped emblem of the East India Company on its lock plate. Blunderbusses of this type were manufactured by corporate weapons contractors like Pritchett to supply the troops and sailors of the East India Company serving in Britain's colonies.
