Coat of arms
This ornament made of plaster shows the coat of arms and motto of the City of London. The escutcheon or shield in the centre combines the cross of St George with a sword, the emblem of the City's patron, St Paul. The shield is supported by dragons and surmounted by a helmet with a dragon wing crest. The scroll below the shield displays the motto of the City 'Domine dirige nos' or 'Lord direct us'.
