Pistol, percussion pistol
This percussion pistol was made by the firm Parker, Field and Sons. The business was founded by William Parker, who had a shop at 233 High Holborn. After his death in 1841, Parker's business was continued by his son-in-law John Field and then by his sons John William Parker Field and William Shakespear Field.
Parker, Field and Sons were contractors to the Board of Ordnance at the Tower of London, the East India and Hudson Bay Companies and the Metropolitan Police. The firm moved from the West End to the East End in 1876 opening premises on Leman Street near the proof house of the Gunmakers' Company on Commercial Road.
