Printed Ephemera — 1843-1844
Boughton and Garraway
Engraved trade card publicising the business of Boughton and Garraway, brown stone ware manufacturers located at Lower Fore Street, Lambeth. On the reverse is a handwritten receipt for the cash payment for an order of pipes, cocks, retorts, acid pans and jugs. The pottery partnership of the widow Maria Boughton and William Garraway of Mitcham at Fore Street appears to have been short lived. Archive papers show that In March 1843 they leased a pottery with a kiln in Kings Head Yard and Harper Walk in Fore Street, Lambeth. This partnership, however, was dissolved in September 1844.
