Billhead, invoice
Copper-engraved billhead with handwritten invoice issued by the Dartford gunpowder manufacturer Pigous & Wilks. Dated 12th December 1829 the billhead also includes the address of the firm's office headquarters at 34 Throgmorton Street in the City of London. The French-Huguenot Frederick Pigou and his partner Miles Peter Andrew established a gunpowder mill in Dartford in 1778. This invoice dates from when the gunpowder mill was run by Frederick's grandsons Frederick William & Clarence in partnership with Robert Wilks
and refers to the sale of gunpowder to a Mr G Brasier, on the 12th December, 1829.
