Printed Ephemera — 1844-10-18
M.P. Davies, Wax chandler and Italian oilman
Printed price list incorporating a handwritten Invoice issued by M.P. Davies, wax chandler, Italian oilman and seller of sauces, spices, vinegars, soaps and rice located at 63 St Martins Lane. Dated 18th October 1844 the invoice refers to the supply of candles and other items to the to Rev W. Hasker who lived in the village of Baughurst in Hampshire. The manufacture of soap and candles was linked by the use of tallow, derived from animal fats, in both products.
