Lead alloy weight. All known lead weights of Elizabeth's reign have ‘EL’ impressed upon them, as per statute issued on 16th December 1587 that '...every of the said standards of avoirdupois weight of one half-quarter of a pound and more to be printed and marked with “EL” crowned, and a Roman “A”’
