Bone, pinner's bone
Pinner's bone. Bovine metatarsal, right side, unfused. (i.e. animal less than 2-2 1/2 years old). The lateral side has been sawn off at the distal end. There are four facets at the proximal end of the shaft, with seven deep grooves cut into the long axis with a saw. There are file marks on every side. There is a small foramen and an enlarged hole at the proximal end of the bone.
