Bone, pinner's bone
Pinner's bone. Bovine metatarsal, right side, distal end missing, revealing cancellous structure of the bone. Lateral and medial sides at the distal end have been sawn off. There are cracks along the longitudinal axis of the lateral and medial sides. There are four facets at the proximal end of the shaft with four deep grooves cut into the longitudinal axis by a saw. File marks on every side, large foramen, and an enlarged hole at the proximal end. Slight copper staining in the exterior faceted side.
