Beauvais scraffito costrel
Green and blue glazed costrel. The neck has broken off short, with unusual twin arched handles at the shoulders. It isdecorated with incised lines in a floral pattern. By the early 1500s, Italian potters skilled in the art of tinglazed earthenware pottery had settled in Antwerp to practise their trade. The Antwerp potteries supplied Londoners with decorative floor tiles as well as vases, jugs, dishes and bowls.
