From the 'Hostel' portfolio

This print is taken from a portfolio by the artist entitled 'Hostel', a suite of fifteen prints addressing the issue of homelessness in London.

The artist Simon Redington worked on the project while employed at St. Mungo's Housing Association, first as a Hostel Supervisor and later as an Outreach Officer. As part of the Outreach Team, Redington would visit people sleeping rough in Lincolns Inn Fields, near Holborn, and assist in their rehabilitation. The square in central London was once one of the largest homeless sleeping sites in the city.

In this print, two figures and a dog can be seen at Lincoln Inn Fields, in front of the band stand structure depicted in the background. The bottom half of Redington's print is dominated by portraits of 'Charlie the Anitchrist' and 'Crazy Ray'. Like other prints in the artist's series, this print combines image with words to dramatic effect. The text at the top sets the aggressive tone of the piece.
