A Geometrical View of the Grand Procession of the Scald Miserable Masons
Recollection of mock procession of Masons in 1742 which coincided with procession of real Masons - engraved a few years after by Benoist who seems to have designed his plate with intention of showing his skill as draughtsman (the imprint notes that he "teaches Drawing abroad") rather than as an attack on the craft itself. The full caption reads: "A Geometrical View of the Grand Procession of the Scald Miserable Masons Designed as they were Drawn up over against Somerset House, in the Strand, on the twenty Seventh of April An.o 1742" and there is a set of satirical notes. On three sheets, stuck together. A23627 is a defective duplicate.
