A Scene in Southam Street, North Kensington
A landscape and topographical painter, Christopher Hall born 1930 has been nicknamed 'the painter of back streets'. In this scene the artist has focused on Southam Street in North Kensington. A group of people can be seen outside a house with peeling stucco, including children who are playing on the street, elderly women in discussion and a pair of couples talking, possibly arguing.
On the right is a war-torn site which has been left undeveloped. Some graffiti can be seen on the lower level, adding to the impression that this part of town is being neglected.
