Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1925
George Court, Adelphi
Looking northwards towards the Strand, this painting depicts George Court, part of the Adelphi Terrace development built by the Adams brothers in the late eighteenth century. It is now almost completely unrecognisable from its former terrace for George Court has been completely rebuilt and only the flight of steps leading into the Strand remains.
This painting by Rosamund Borradaile ( 1901-85) was an early work by this artist who proceeded to produce drawings manuals with her sister Violet, both of whom had an interest in medieval illustrated manuscripts.
