Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1815?-1824?
St. Mary's Church, Willesden
This painting of St Mary's Church from the north west shows the original 13th century nave and tower before alterations were made later in the 19th century. Some cottages are seen on the right and a large house can be glimpsed through the trees on the left. A small boy accompanied by a woman walks towards the clearing, with the church on their right. At the time the picture was made, in the early 19th century, Willesden was still a small country village, with less than a hundred houses.
