Ian, Dr Hickey Surgery, 2020
Ian was let out of prison the day before this photograph was taken outside the Dr Hickey Surgery as part of the government's plan to release thousands of inmates early to protect them from the spread of Covid-19 in UK prisons. Methadone withdrawals, twenty-three hours lockdown in his cell and the paranoia of catching Covid-19 had led Ian to try and take his own life. With restaurants and shops closed, and public toilets and charging points cordoned off, the drop-in health care service for homeless people in Westminster has been a life-line for many during lockdown.
Part of a project by Grey Hutton documenting the founders, volunteers and users of a range of local charities and community organisations during the Covid-19 pandemic.
